CC engine oil flow meter

Today let's talk about the
flow meter used for measuring engine oil.
One of our Switzerland customer ask us to give him a solution about whether our flow meter is suitable for his conditions or not ?
detailed information below:
- Application: Measurement of the liquid engine oil flow that drains from an oil mist filter installed in the crankcase ventilation system.
- Liquid: Engine oil (e.g., SAE40)
- Temperature engine oil < 80 °C
- Viscosity engine oil < 1000 mPas (Typically 100 mPas)
- Pressure: oil not pressurized (free-flowing in hose; only hydrostatic pressure)
- Expected Flow: in the range from 0.3 ml/min to 5 ml/min.
According to the customer's information, we introduced our M series to him, especially M2.1 and M5.2
Then the customer asked us a question:
The customer assumed that the "gravity height" was the length of the vertical pipe at the flow meter inlet (where the oil column forms). We can choose the length from 2 cm to 20 cm. Assuming a gravitational acceleration of 9.81 m/s2 and an oil density of 850 kg/m3, these lengths translate into hydrostatic pressures at the flow meter inlet of approximately 170 N/m2 to 1,700 N/m2. Are these pressures suitable for driving flowmeters with our 100mpa engine oil?
The suggestion from our engineer is to ask the customer to increase the height to 60CM or more, then there is no problem at all
Finally, the customer chose the model M2.1-AL
M2.1-AL parameters as follows:
Accuracy: 0.5%
medium: Engine oil
flow range: 0.3-150ml/min
Working temperature: -30~80C
Working pressure: 32bar
Output:pulse(hall sensor or reed switch)
Power: 4-26VDC
Housing material: anodized aluminum
Gear material: anodized aluminum
Customer Feedback:
We already started testing the CX-M2.1-AL (see attached picture) and so far, we are very satisfied with the performance of the device. Currently we are planning to extend our tests and use it in the actual engine environment.
